Cardiff City Development programme
With the imminent arrival of the new season of the Monmouth Centre, we would like to thank you for your contribution to our programme at the end of last season. We would like to inform you of our intentions for the 2010/2011 season.
Academy progressions
There are currently 15 players within the Academy squads who progressed from our Newport Centre, and this is a figure we will aim to match over the next 2 seasons from the Monmouth Centre. The beginning of this process will start this October when a handful of players will be involved in Academy days.
This centre exists for 1 reason – to provide a bridge between grassroots football and Academy football. We also hope it makes it clear that opportunity exists for those who excel.
New Season
The 2010/11 season will begin the week commencing Monday 6th September. We will train Tuesdays at the Haberdashers school for girls in Monmouth:
Under 12’s – 6.00 – 7.00pm
Under 13’s – 6.00 – 7.30pm
Under 14’s – 6.00 – 7.30pm
Under 15’s – 7.30 – 9.00pm
Under 16’s – 7.30 – 9.00pm
The Coaches for next season are currently being finalised
Development Games programme
We have already agreed 10 games with squads from Swindon, Bristol, Cheltenham and Walsall. In addition to this there will be games against our other Development Centres, Academy festivals and the possibility of a series of development games with teams currently competing in the Southern Premier league.
Just to add clarity, the purpose of the games programme is to evaluate player effectiveness in a game situation, we are not trying to build super powerful teams; our overriding goal is to develop players who can progress into our Academy squads.
